The latest integrated amplifier from the Polish audio icon Unitra, the WSH-605, combines tradition with state-of-the-art technology to deliver exceptional sound quality. Featuring advanced digital solutions, it provides unprecedented precision and clarity in sound reproduction. The amplifier will be making its debut at this year’s Audio Video Show in Warsaw – a major industry event that brings together music lovers and audio professionals from around the world.
State-of-the-Art Digital Solutions in Unitra’s Analog World
The WSH-605 is a state-of-the-art integrated stereo amplifier designed to provide versatile and rich functionality and equipped with a sophisticated error correction circuit that delivers exceptional sound quality even in the most demanding acoustic environments. Compared to the earlier WSH-805 model, which is a classic analog amplifier, the WSH-605 introduces a number of innovative digital solutions that represent a significant step forward in terms of technology and functionality. For greater flexibility, the amplifier offers a variety of audio inputs, both analog and digital, including automatic signal sensing. Combined with the easy-to-use and intuitive interface, this makes it an excellent choice for users looking for cutting-edge, high-performance audio equipment.
Excellent Specifications and Proprietary Technical Solutions
The WSH-605’s impressive performance will satisfy even the most demanding audiophiles. With an output power of 2 × 70 watts into 8 ohms and 2 × 110 watts into 4 ohms, it can drive even large loudspeakers with ease, and the broad frequency response of 7,5 Hz to 75 kHz allows it to reproduce the full audio spectrum with excellent quality.
“Our new amplifier incorporates a variety of solutions to deliver clarity and detail in musical reproduction. With carefully selected components and advanced technologies, it achieves lossless signal transmission that contributes to an exceptional audio experience. The WSH-605’s error-correcting power amplifier section is a scratch-built circuit based on novel audio amplifier topology. To the best of our knowledge, such a circuit has never been implemented commercially or non-commercially before, and its topology easily distinguishes itself from existing industry-standard designs,” emphasizes Adrian Krupowicz, Chief Designer and Audio Engineer at Unitra.
Timeless and Impressive Design
The latest addition to Unitra’s lineup, the WSH-605 integrated amplifier, combines advanced technology, excellent design and, last but not least, sustainability, because it is built to last – as was once the standard. The company’s products are finely crafted from high-quality materials, and the WHS-605 is no exception with its sturdy all-metal enclosure that offers excellent resistance to mechanical damage. With a design that seamlessly blends elegance and function, the amplifier is sure to attract the attention of all audio enthusiasts.
“Our goal was to create an amplifier that meets the demands of audiophiles and, at the same time, brings style and elegance to any interior. We want to make audio equipment an integral part of the living space. This is why the WSH-605 has a minimalist design that fits in perfectly with the latest trends in interior design and, at the same time, draws inspiration from the classic Unitra models,” explains Wiktor Szulfer, the brand’s Chief Designer.
The Amplifier and More: Unitra’s Stand at the Audio Video Show
In addition to the new WSH-605, Unitra’s complete product portfolio will be on display at the company’s stand during the event. Apart from the existing flagship models, such as the WSH-805 amplifier and the GSH-630 Fryderyk and GSH-801 Edmund turntables, Unitra will also be showcasing those launched over the last twelve months. This will include the first public presentation of the ZGB-401 bookshelf loudspeaker, which delivers precise audio performance in a sleek compact design. The product will be available for auditioning during listening sessions in a dedicated room. For connoisseurs of analog sound, Unitra will also be presenting its turntable test records – developed in collaboration with the Polish company Takt.
The Return of an Icon and Unitra’s Ambitious Plans
The Unitra brand was reactivated in 2021, reviving the company’s historical legacy and combining it with state-of-the-art technology. Unitra’s History at a Glance
Unitra’s history dates back to 1961, when the Union of the Electronic and Communications Industry (Zjednoczenie Przemysłu Elektronicznego i Teletechnicznego) was established. At the peak of its development, Unitra comprised 28 manufacturing companies, a number of technology sales centers and design and engineering offices, and an industrial modernization company, employing a total of 100,000 people.
Unitra is one of the few pre-1989 brands that have survived the political transformation and continued to operate in the new environment. Over the years, the owner of the trademark, Unitra Towarzystwo Przemysłowo-Handlowe S.A. (Unitra S.A.) had undertaken many business and cultural initiatives related to the brand, but had not designed any audio equipment.
This changed in 2021, when – at the initiative of Daniel Kostrzewa and Adrian Krupowicz – a deal was signed between Unitra S.A. and Michał Kiciński, a well-known investor in innovative technology projects, leading to the establishment of Unitra Sp. z o.o. The company was granted exclusive rights to use the Unitra trademark and tasked with creating a new audio product lineup that would stay true to Unitra’s 20th-century traditions while following today’s principles in designing sustainable and repairable high-performance electronics.
