Prague, August 22, 2024: Bose regularly releases new updates for all of its current products. Some of them fundamentally improve the properties of the device or add new functions to it. One of the latest updates significantly improves the clarity of hands-free calls to the Bose wireless headphones, while also adding Bluetooth multipoint connectivity, allowing them to be used with two devices at the same time, such as a phone and a laptop.
Users who have their headphones, speaker or soundbar connected to the "Bose" smart application usually use the updates completely automatically, so the installation of the new version of the software on their devices takes place without their active intervention. Those who do not use this link or have automatic updates turned off can install the software manually via the website btu.bose.com while connecting the product to the computer with a data cable.
Most of the functions of modern electronics are provided by software. In the case of headphones, this applies, among other things, to the algorithms used for the active noise cancellation function (ANC) or during hands-free calls to clean the user's voice from unwanted noises from the surroundings. And it was precisely the last described function that the developers focused on during the preparation of the aforementioned software update for the headphones. The result is a significant improvement in the intelligibility of hands-free calls in a very busy environment. This is because the algorithm can distinguish noises from the surroundings even more effectively than before, and it is better to "delete" them when talking on the phone.
The second innovation, the addition of a multi-point Bluetooth connection function, will be appreciated by users especially during office work. How does it work? Bluetooth technology allows headphones or speakers to play audio from one specific source, such as a phone or computer, at a time. Thanks to the "multipoint" function, the headphones can perceive the signal coming from two devices and seamlessly switch between them without user intervention. In practice, this means that if the user works with a computer and listens via Bluetooth, for example, to the sound from a playing video, the headphones can simultaneously register the signal of an incoming call from the phone and smoothly switch to it (the video sound is interrupted). Similarly, for example, a video with audio playing on the computer can be manually paused and a music playlist from Spotify on the phone can be started, for example.
You can easily control the activation of the multipoint connection in the Bose app. In the app menu, go to "Settings" and then "Bluetooth Connection". Here you will find a switch that allows multipoint connection to be either turned on or off depending on individual preference. These new features are available to new and existing users of all currently sold headphone models after a software update.
